1. Who we are

The App is operated by Lemonkode (Pty) Ltd (registration no. 2018/286587/07), of Quinan House, 12 de Beers Avenue, Paardevlei, Somerset West, 7130, Western Cape. For the purposes of POPIA, we are the responsible party for the personal information processed through the App.

You can contact our Information Officer at privacy@matchplanner.io.

2. Information we collect

Match Planner is a lawn bowls match-management app. We collect only the information needed to identify you as a player, run your matches, and record results. Specifically:

CategoryWhat it includes
Account & identityYour name, your Bowls SA (BSA) membership number (which you use to sign in), your password (which we store only in encrypted, hashed form), an optional email address (used for password resets and service messages), your profile initials/avatar colour, an optional profile photo (which you can add from your device’s camera or photo library), and a short bio.
Bowls profileYour club(s), district, playing role, and the statistics the App builds as you play — matches played and won, sets won, total shots, experience points (XP) and tier.
Match & competition dataMatches you create or take part in, the teams and the opponents/teammates involved, scores and end/set results, verification status, and — where applicable — the venue, green and rink, scheduled date/time, tournament details, and an audit trail of who scored or verified a result and when.
Player directorySo that other registered players can find you to add you to matches or as a connection, your name, BSA number, club and district are searchable within the App by other registered users.
Technical & app dataBasic technical information such as app version and device type, and app preferences (your signed-in user and selected sport) stored locally on your device.
What we do not do. Match Planner does not use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, does not track your device’s GPS location, and does not access your contacts. We access your camera or photo library only when you choose to add or change a profile photo, and only the image you select is uploaded — we don’t browse or collect your other photos. Any venue coordinates we hold relate to a bowls green or club, not to your live location.

We are based in South Africa, and your personal information is hosted in South Africa by our infrastructure provider, Domains.co.za. We do not transfer your personal information outside South Africa. If this changes in future — for example, if we engage a service provider located in another country — we will ensure any such transfer complies with POPIA section 72, which requires the recipient to be subject to laws or binding agreements that uphold a level of protection substantially similar to POPIA, your consent, or that the transfer is necessary for our agreement with you.

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information, except where we are required to retain certain records. Note that completed match results in which you participated may be retained as part of opponents’ and tournaments’ records.

You can exercise most of these rights inside the App (Settings & About) or by emailing us at support@matchplanner.io. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Under POPIA, anyone under the age of 18 is a child, and a child’s personal information may only be processed with the consent of a parent or legal guardian (a “competent person”). If you are a parent or guardian allowing a child to use the App, you confirm that you consent to these practices on the child’s behalf and that you will supervise their use of the App.

We collect the same limited information for junior players as for adults (see section 2) and do not knowingly collect more than is needed for a player to take part in matches. A parent or guardian may access, correct or delete a child’s personal information at any time by contacting us. If we become aware that a child is using the App without the required consent, we will suspend the account and delete the information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where changes are significant, provide notice in the App. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
